Shear Strength of Headed Stud Connectors in Self-Compacting Concrete with Recycled Coarse Aggregate

This study investigated the use of self-compacting concrete (SCC) made with recycled coarse aggregates (RCAs), which represents a trend producing environment-friendly concrete, integrated hot-rolled steel sections by means headed stud shear connectors in composite structures. Therefore, thirty-six push-out test specimens were examined to assess strength and behavior embedded RCA-SCC, compressive strength, diameter, RCA ratio as main variables. Four ratios RCAs ranging from 0 60% used produce three different strengths (25, 33, 40 MPa) for each one. It was found that SCC had negative effect on connectors. could be reduced increasing and/or diameter. Similarly, reduction stiffness tested inversely proportional ratio, while ultimate slip directly ratio. An evaluation results comparing them those determined Eurocode 4 AASHTO LRFD.
